Thomas Lawrence became famous in his lifetime for his role during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War, earning him the nickname "Lawrence of Arabia". He is best known for this work.

Lawrence has been immortalised in the 1962 film "Lawrence of Arabia", in which he is portrayed by Peter O'Toole.
